Meet the Stemettes

Despite the thousands of women already working in Ireland’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields, there exists a lack of young talent in the pipeline. Join us to hear from a diverse panel as they share their somewhat surprising career paths and provide tips to those students who are contemplating their future careers and job options. The event promises to provide a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with STEM professionals and discover new opportunities over light refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere.

OSA Student Chapter President, Ms. Laura Tobin was asked to be a panellist for the event “Meet the Stemettes” panel on the 7th November . The event was hosted by Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Stemettes to highlight women in STEM for second level and undergraduates thinking of perusing a career in STEM . Ms. Tobin talked about her journey from studying physics as an undergraduate in UCD to a PhD candidate in optical engineering.

About the Stemettes – We’re running a series of panel events, hackathons and exhibitions this year for girls from 9 years old right up to female university students. We’d like to show them amazing women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics careers.
